Tumba Tumba Children’s Museum of Philippine Art

Last week, we headed to UP to check out the concept museum for the Tumba Tumba Children’s Museum of Philippine Art.

The museum is an interactive museum for kids. It features plenty of kid-friendly pieces made of found objects by local artists. There’s an activity area where kids can play, there are coloring and drawing stations, there’s a wall where they can do memory game puzzles, a place where they can do origami, some bilingual books to read, and a shop that you can buy some souvenir to take home.

Museum Fri-date with the kids!

The first floor is the main museum lobby, the activity area, Abubot section show featuring cabinets and shelves repurposed from old wood and found objects, the shop and the separate sections the books – Children’s Stories by Renato Barja and Ang Aklatang Pusa by  Eugene Evasco and Jared Yokte.

Aklatang Pusa is the kids’ favorite. They stayed there for most of our museum time to play the version of snakes and ladders but as Gab calls it – it’s cats and ladders or  just play around and pet the cats on display.

The second floor of the museum is currently closed for renovation. It’s a permanent Art Exhibition which has the Vargas Collection.

The third floor is another section of the Changing Exhibits, like the 1st floor.  You can find the Arkisens exhibit, the memory game by one of the wing and the section for the book “Ipapasyal Namin si Lolo” by Genaro Gojo Cruz and Arvi Fetalvero.

The Tumba-Tumba is a creative space for Philippine art, established by the Center for Art, New Ventures and Sustainanble Development (CANVAS).  It will soon rise in a 20,000 square meter land area in Batangas with the target date of June 13, 2025. We can’t wait to visit the place!
