When to Use Nang vs Ng

When do you use NANG and NG? What’s the difference?

Though they sound the same, these two words cannot be interchanged. Here are some rules on when to use NANG or NG.

Ang salitang NANG ay sumasagot sa mga tanong na Paano, o Gaano. Ito ay ibang salita ng Noong, Upang at Para. Ginagamit din ito kapag umuulit ang kilos.

Ang NG ay sumasagot sa mga tanong na Ano, o Kailan. Ginagamit din ito kapag tungkol sa Oras o Petsa at kapag pagmamay-ari.

NANG

  1. If we are responding to the question “Paano” or “How”
  2. If we repeat a verb
  3. If we are responding to “Gaano” or “How much”
  4. It is another word for “Noong” or When, “Upang” or “Para”
  5. If it is beside the word “Maaga” or “Early”

NG

  1. If we are responding to the question “Ano” or “What”
  2. If we are responding to the question “Kailan” or “When”
  3. If it is about “Oras” or Time,  “Petsa” or Date
  4. When using  “Ubud ng”, “Puno ng”, “Saksakan ng”
  5. Possession
