Science Experiments with Eggs

Science experiments at home doesn’t have to be expensive. Here are simple and cheap science experiments that only use eggs as the main materials. The other materials can be found inside the house as well. If not, it will be easily bought at a grocery store or supermarket.

These experiments explores the topics on chemical reactions, buoyancy, density, material properties and more.

Bouncy Egg Science Experiment

This is a very simple experiment that uses just two main materials: Egg and vinegar. You need a glass container too. It is simple and safe, so younger kids can do these experiements, as well.

The experiment shows the chemical reaction between the egg shell and the vinegar. The result will be an egg that can bounce.

Egg in a Bottle

A classic science experiment, this looks like a magic trick that kids will surely love. The experiment explores the topic on air pressure.

You would need an egg, a glass container and some matches. Click here for the instructions.

Make an Eggshell Bridge

Ever wonder how strong an eggshell is? Kids may notice that we simply break the eggs so easily. It looks so fragile. This experiment will test how strong an egg can be by stacking heavy books on it. I’m sure they will be surprised.

Floating Egg

Eureka! This is another easy experiment with eggs that talks about buoyancy. All you need is an egg, water, a glass container and salt. Read the instructions here.

Raw or Boiled Eggs

This is probably the easiest experiment since you only need a cooked egg and a raw egg. This experiment also shows that science have practices uses for everyday life. Even adults are not sure if the egg is cooked or raw. This science experiment applies the topic on inertia and momentum.
