Batibot Mobile App Review

Batibot is a children’s tv show. I used to watch this while I was growing up. I can still remember the most loved Batibot characters Pong Pagong and Kiko Matsing, Manang Bola and her perlas na bilog, Sitsiritsit and Alibangbang’s conversations, the Alin Ang Naiba Song, and the story-tellers Kuya Bodjie and Ate Sienna.

As we are now teaching Gab to learn Filipino, I was hoping that we still have the Batibot as one of the educational Philippine TV shows. Watching it was a fun and easy way to learn the Filipino language.

2020 Update:

iOs name of App: Batibot. There have been changes on the interface but the app still has the Kwento, Games, Tracing and the Songs.  Android name of App: Batibot Games. Only the Game is available, not the rest of the original features.

The Batibot Mobile App, recently launched by Smart Communications, was designed specifically for kids in kindergarten up to Grade 3. Parents, like me, who grew up with Batibot can now let their kids enjoy the popular children’s educational TV show through a mobile phone application.

The Batibot TV App has four features: Kwentong Batibot, ABC, Batibot Games and Karaoke

Games. The Batibot Games is a separate app that you have to download to access the classic games of Alin ang Naiba, Pares-pares, Pagsunod-sunurin and Pagsama-samahin. Children will learn to identify what is different from a group of objects or pictures, know how to match, sort or group similar objects and to arrange objects, letters or numbers in a pattern or sequence.

Batibot Mobile App Review

Pros:

     1. The Batibot app has interactive features that kids can easily navigate.

     2. Free mobile app that can make learning Filipino more fun. Kids will learn more vocabulary words while using the app.

     3. The Batibot app is the first learning app in Filipino that is aligned with the national kindergarten curriculum of the Department of Education.

Cons:

     1. Currently available for Android devices only, available now on Google play. Not yet available through IOS, Apple.

2020 Update: Batibot is now on iOS. There have been changes on the interface but the app still has the Kwento, Games, Tracing and the Songs.  Android name of App: Batibot Games. Only the Game is available, not the rest of the original features.

     2. No option to turn off the Batibot theme song. It plays as soon as you access the app and even when you are downloading songs or stories.

     3. Batibot most loved characters are nowhere in sight. A feature of Pong Pagong, Kiko Matsing, Kuya Bodjie and other famous puppets and story-tellers would be great.

We are still downloading the songs and the stories and we hope to update this article with more details.
