Exploring the Underwater in Balicasag

We went to Bohol to last month and part of the itinerary is to go to Balicasag Island and do snorkeling. Balicasag is a small island off the coast of Panglao Island in Bohol. It is a marine sanctuary with white sand beach and beautiful corals, well known snorkeling and dive site.

Here’s our underwater adventure in Balicasag Island. It was Gab’s first time to see a dolphin, sea turtles, and schools of fish.

 

 

How to get to Balicasag Isand

You can reach Balicasag Island in Bohol via Tagbilaran City. Once in Tagbilaran, you may rent a car to bring you to Alona Beach in Panglao. There are many many motorized boats that will take you to Balicasag island. The rates stars at around P1,500 per boat for a round trip.

In Balicasag, you have the following fees to settle:  EUF (Environmental User’s Fee), paddle boat (boats with engines are not allowed in the snorkeling area), snorkeling guide/boat man (who will also paddle the boat to the site) for Php 250 per person.

If you are traveling with kids, it’s advisable to bring your own life vest fitted for them and their googles as the ones being rented out (at Php 150/head) are adult size vests and snorkeling gear.
