Emerson Spartz – Homeschooler turned Million-Dollar Entrepeneur

Emerson Spartz was homeschooled since he was 12 years old.  Today, he is 28 years old and is the CEO of a multi-million dollar company that he built by himself.

In 1999, Emerson Spratz convinced his parents to drop out of school and started homeschooling himself. He created his own curriculum.

His parents supported his request with a condition that he reads four short biographies of successful people everyday.  Emerson Spratz encourages parents to do this to their kids as well.  By reading about successful people at a very young age, he started to think big!

One month after he started homeschooling, he created a Harry Potter fan website, MuggleNet.  He learned how to build a website on his own.  He learned how to code, how to write, how to edit, how to manage, etc.  He said he grew up very fast during this period in order to meet the demands of  MuggleNet.

MuggleNet quickly became the No. 1 Harry Potter fan website.  The Harry Potter author, J. K. Rowling, even invited him to her estate in Scotland.  MuggleNet made hundreds of thousands of dollars through advertising, and Spartz funnelled his earnings into a new company: Spartz, Inc.

By the age of 19, Spartz became a New York Times bestselling author after publishing his first book.

He later attended university and earned a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business.

Today, he continues to develop websites as many as one website a month. His two most popular websites alone, Dose.com and OMGFacts.com are read by 45 million people each month.
