Anvil’s Early Learning Series Book Review

We just finished our Curriculum Day at TMA.  Upon seeing the contents of the Filipino textbook we chose, Quennie and I realized how we neglected to introduce this language to Gab.  So we looked for Filipino books that we would like Gab to read.

After browsing through the local bookstore, I found an Early Learning Series books published by Anvil Publishing Inc.  They were 5 books authored by Ana de Borja Araneta and Krie Reyes Lopez.  They were open copies so I was able to read them before choosing the ones Gab would love.

I bought two books right away, Prrrrt… Utot! and Kilikili!  These two topics will really be fun for Gab.

Gab and Kilikili Book

Gab and I find the books very entertaining.  He loves reading them and we had a good laugh while reading the book.

The authors really did a good job in making the book. It reminds me of the silly themes of Gerald and Piggie books by Mo Willems. The drawings are simple and can be easily recognized by kids.  The words being used in the books are just right for early readers and the story is not intimidating.  Best of all, the books are humorous making it fun to read.

We have lots of English books for early readers like Dr. Seuss and Berenstain Bears.  This are the first Filipino books we have that is written for toddlers and early readers.  I am so glad they have written one.  Filipino parents who want to teach their children Filipino should get one.

There are 5 books in the Early Learning Series.  You can check them out at your local bookstore.

  • Kokak! Korak!

  • Ang Dilim-Dilim!
